Photos: Christchurch (South Island, New Zealand)

During our trip, we decided to pay a visit to my cousin's daughter, Toyah, who's studying medicine in Christchurch. Since it's on the South Island, we took a domestic flight over, lots of turbulence!!! O.o Anyway, we only had an evening and a day in Christchurch, so we only managed to go sightseeing around the city centre, but we got to see and do a lot! We even went punting (kind of like rowing) on the river Avon!!! The city centre somehow gives me the feeling of being in Cambridge (UK), with the buildings and the punting. Okay, I'm too lazy to give a detailed description of what's what, sorry! :( But you can read about them here. Anyway, I will mention some significant things. We saw an eel in the river while punting!!! Funny thing is that our punter said that it's not usual for them to be out in winter and we'd be lucky if we saw one. A few minutes later, voila! A full-fledged eel swam by, haha. It was disgusting, but at least we could say we were lucky! ;D We also saw some cool NZ birds, including the Paradise Shelduck. They tend to form long-term pairs (how sweet!), which is what we saw on a tree while punting. The male has a black head and barred black body, while the female has a white head and chestnut body. While walking around town, we came across a street stunt duo, the last photo showing the girl fitting herself into a small clear-plastic box - they were really funny as well, hehe.

So that concludes my account of the NZ holiday. I definitely recommend New Zealand for visiting, but you really need a car to get around (they drive on the left side, woohoo!). Hope you all like the photos! Tschuss! xxx
